Downtown to feature pubs, pups, German Food

The Downtown area will be busy this weekend with different events taking place. That German Place will be holding Little Taste of Germany, a cafeteria style event, while Little Chicago Pub District will brings dogs and pub crawlers together for another year at their Second Pints and Puppies event.

Little Taste of Germany will take place today from 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and then Saturday at 2 p.m. until items are sold out. The business works to prepare and cook items according to an estimated numbers to reduce waste. The event is a cafeteria style event, not an all you can eat, and will feature plates or to-go packages of food for $15.49.

That German Place will be serving foods such as potato dumplings, German potato salad, German noodle salad, potatoes, spatzle, red cabbage, schnitzel, chicken, bouletten and krautter butter, tomato butter, lemon butter and more.

Pints and Puppies will take place on Saturday. The event will take place at The Tap Room, The Spot and at Ebeneezer’s starting at 4 p.m.

The event is open to anyone above the age of 21 and dogs of all kinds. They encourage dog owners to bring out their pups and hang out with other dog lovers. Those without dogs are encouraged to come out and meet the many dogs from around town.

VIP wristbands will be available to purchase for $10 and will get wearers discounts on specialty drinks at all the bars taking part. Half of all proceeds from the wristbands will be donated to Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue to help them with vet bills, food and other expenses, according to the event Facebook page.

Each bar will have an outdoor spot for those taking part to bring their dogs and enjoy a drink.
