As Thanksgiving nears and Christmas takes over the stores, Studio X is ready to spread cheer through their annual recital. Performing “How the Grinch Stole Xmas,” the dance studio will present three shows this weekend.

The Ann Nicole Nelson Theater stage at Minot State University will be filled with Studio X’s first ever “How the Grinch Stole Xmas” on Saturday at 2 p.m., followed by another performance at 7 p.m. The third and final performance will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m.

“The girls have been practicing for over two months,” said Alecia Hanselman. “A lot has gone into the show.”

Chosen by Studio X’s artistic director Joshua Wise, “How the Grinch Stole Xmas” has over 100 performers in the show. Dancers are as old as 18 years and as young as 18 months.

“He’s created all of this on his own,” Hanselman said.

She explained they wanted to do a Christmas show and Wise knew with the dancers they have, “How the Grinch Stole Xmas” would make for a good program.

The dancer performing as the “Grinch” is Nedrose High School freshman Sophia Svystunova. For the charismatic little girl known as “Cindy Lou Who,” 9-year-old Kerrigan Mize will play the role.

Tickets for the show are available in advance through events.tututix.com/Studioxdance/events/listing, and will also be available at the door. General admission is $20 for adults and $10 for children.
