Minot City Band performing concert at Oak Park

With the weather warm and the days long, it is the time to be outdoors. On Sunday, the Minot City Band will be adding music to the warm days to give concert goers a relaxing, outdoor experience.

Taking place in Oak Park, the band will perform two concerts in the band shell. One will take place at 4 p.m. and the other at 7 p.m. The featured soloist for the concert will be Pat Schwan, Magic City Campus director of bands and well known trumpeter. Along with being a popular performer in the community, he is also the principal trumpet of the Minot Symphony Orchestra.

The Minot City Band will be bringing a wide variety of music with works including by Robert Russel Bennet, Robert Sheldon, Meredith Wilson and Kenneth Alford. Schwan will be performing the “Trumpeter’s Lullaby,” written by LeRoy Anderson.

Directed by Joseph Alme, the band has been a recurring performance at the Arts in the Park summer series, bringing music to the community as often as they can.

Both of the Sunday concerts are free and open to all.
