Western Plains Children’s Choirs seeking new members

Western Plains Children’s Choirs includes area singers in grades 3 through 12 from public, private, and home schools. Fall 2017 marks the beginning of their our 27th season of joyful music-making. Singers come back year after year from as far away as Velva, Max, Mohall, and Stanley. They build choral, vocal, and musical skills enabling a high level of artistry and more important, they say, friendships.

The 2017-18 season includes performances for Hostfest, retirement homes, NDACDA convention in Fargo, Christmas and Spring Concerts, a spring performance with the Minot Symphony, tours of area schools, and an overnight tour to Williston.

Singers in grades 3-12 are invited to join Western Plains. Auditions for the 2017-2018 season will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 6 and 7, 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. in Old Main, Room 120 at Minot State University. You will sing “America” (My Country Tis’ of Thee), “Are You Sleeping,” and echo short phrases that are sung by one of the directors. To arrange an audition time, call or email Dr. Petrik at 426-2039 or rebecca.c.petrik@minotstateu.edu.

Also, a new offering has been added – “DRUMKidz” with Jeri Langemo! This is a two-semester program in which participants engage in weekly classes exploring drums, hand percussion, and mallet instruments. The class is being offered to 4th and 5th graders and is limited to 20 – no audition required. Tuition is $180 for the year. Call 833-4185 with questions or to enroll.
