Reflections: Tripping hazards

On August 21, I received a new right knee. The morning after surgery I was expected to sit in a chair to eat breakfast and dress with the help of an occupational therapist. After that I walked down the hall and began to exercise the knee with skin held together by 27 staples so that I could regain full use of it again. Addressing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' twice-yearly conference in Salt Lake City, Russell M. Nelson said the church's name "is not negotiable." "When the Savior clearly states what the name of his church should be, and even precedes his declaration with, 'Thus shall my church be called,' he is serious," Nelson said. "And if we allow nicknames to be used and adopt or ...

Fall blessings

Growing up in North Dakota, I took for granted living in a part of the world where we truly can experience all four seasons. I didn’t realize how much I would miss the seasons and the changes associated with them until my wife and I lived five years in Kansas City. There we certainly had summer, but there was not a winter. And without winter you cannot have a spring. But what I truly missed was my favorite season: fall. I wasn’t overly fond of school until I started college. My wife says that if I could get paid to stay in school I would gladly do it. She is right. Fall holds warm ...
