Nontraditional worship service to be held Nov. 12

Lutheran Campus Ministry at Minot State University (LCM) will host a nontraditional worship service for those wanting to spiritually connect in an alternative way.

“Our local churches do an amazing job at providing a rich faith life for their people, yet I also know that some folks in town have had really difficult experiences at some point in their lives that can make it hard to trust going back into a church building again,” said LCM Campus Pastor Rachel Simonson. “Our hope is to create an alternative space for people looking to find connection within a non-traditional faith community.”

At 5 p.m. there will be a potluck, though people are still encouraged to come and eat if they don’t bring anything. The worship service begins at 5:30 p.m. Both will take place at Prairie Sky Breads on Sunday, Nov. 12.

The worship service will be around 45 minutes long and will include Holy Communion that will be available to everyone. LCM is inclusive and affirming of the LGBTQIA+ community, and there will be space for children to play throughout the service. Cheryl Nilsen will provide special music.
