Minot Elks Lodge donates to six organizations

The Minot Elks Lodge #1089 recently used its $3,500 Gratitude Grant from the Elks National Foundation to assist six area organizations, according to a news release from the lodge. The grants are: — $500 to purchase 15 twin sheet sets and 18 pairs of pajamas for the Domestic Violence Crisis Center. — $500 to Mouse River Players Children’s Theatre. — $500 to Second Story Club for people with disabilities. — $500 to the North Dakota Firefighters Museum for fire safety education. — $500 to Men’s Winter Refuge. — $1,000 to the Backpack Buddies Program.

Kenmare historian preserves memorial parks

Bryan Quigley estimates he, his brother, Del Quigley, and other volunteers have restored around six different cemeteries so far in the past couple years. “You don’t like to see cemeteries go into ruin, and we saw a lot of cemeteries around us that weren’t well kept up so we – me and a few other people – just started fixing them up when we had time,” Quigley said.
