Fort Stevenson hosts Dickens geocache ornament exchange

GARRISON – Twelve ornaments are awaiting discovery at Fort Stevenson State Park during the annual Dickens Village Festival in Garrison.

Each Friday of the festival – Nov. 28, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12 – the park will publish the GPS coordinates of four geocaches containing an ornament, each a first-to-find prize. The park asks that visitors collect only one ornament per family. Coordinates will be posted on the park’s social media page.

Following the traditional practice of “take something, leave something” in geocaches, participants are asked to bring an ornament to exchange. Upon finding the cache, each participant should take one ornament and leave another for the next geocacher. Direct questions to the park office.

Geocache enthusiasts and those new to the activity are welcome to participate. For more information, contact the park office at 337-5576 or email to fssp@nd.gov.

There is no fee to participate but the park charges a $7 vehicle entrance fee unless a State Park annual pass is displayed. Fort Stevenson State Park is located three miles south of Garrison.

Starting at $2.99/week.
