Nu Notes will be holding “Hats off to the Mouse House” to raise money for a new electrical system for the Mouse River playhouse. The show is a free will donation and will take place on Thursday, May 29, 7 p.m. at the Mouse River Players’ Arlene Theater.
“We are excited to perform in the beautiful playhouse and be able to contribute to the theater,” said member Holly Eidsness.
“We enjoy helping the community, so when we see a need we get together as a group to see how we can help, whether that be a medical benefit, providing entertainment, or just lending a hand where needed,” said member Marj Bubach.
Nu Notes was started in the early 2000s by a small group of teachers.
“We were getting ready for the state teachers conference when we heard they were needing entertainment, so a couple teachers got together and the rest is history,” said Bubach. Nu Notes has grown and now perform songs from Broadway to today’s pop songs.
“The fundraiser will start with a song from the Broadway musical ‘Sister Act’ and end with the song ‘One’ from ‘Chorus Line,'” said Eidsness. During intermission Nu Notes will pass around hats for a free will donation.
“The money we raise will help to put in a new lighting system and also add some extra outlets within the theater,” Eidsness asid. “We are excited to contribute to the playhouse and look forward to performing there in the future after the electrical system is updated.”
