Native American rappers entertain at back-to-school bash

WHITE SHIELD – Native American rappers Lil Mike and Funny Bone entertained at a back-to-school bash held in White Shield to commemorate the first day of school on Monday.

Put on by Three Affiliated Tribes (Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation) Business Council representative Fred Fox of White Shield, the bash was held in the middle of the sports complex with school faculty, students and parents attending.

Lil Mike and Funny Bone, also known as Mike Bone and a Christian rap group, had everyone cheering at the White Shield event.

The two are focused on God and living a clean life and talked about their lives as Natives. They are Pawnee and Choctaw from Oklahoma. White Shield is home of the Arikara and the Arikara have a link to the Pawnees.

Lil Mike and Funny Bone went from performing at house parties in Oklahoma to international fame. The two were on “America’s Got Talent.” Currently, they star on “Reservation Dogs,” a TV sitcom.

Fox presented the entertainers with White Shield T-shirts.

White Shield School principal Stacy also Blacksmith introduced all of her staff at the event. Before the show, kids were given tacos in a bag, water and fruit to snack on. Bouncy houses were available for the younger kids.
