MRP theater to host Mardi Gras Gala

The Mouse River Players Community Theatre is offering an evening of fun and entertainment April 2 at a Mardi Gras Gala in honor of its 50th season.

“Of course, the real Mardi Gras or “Fat Tuesday” takes place in March but who cares? It’s still spring,” the organization stated in announcing the event.

The gala will be held at the Grand Hotel. A dinner is included in the price of the tickets, which are $50 per person and can be purchased at http://mouseriverplayers.com.

Participants will enjoy a variety of entertainment, including a music review of favorite songs that follows the history of the Mouse River Players, and a performance of the play “Love Letters,” to be presented by four local couples of varying ages, from the young to the young at heart. In addition, there will be door prizes, Mardi Gras bling, a photo booth and the opportunity to dance the night away with music from Dakota Dixie.

The social and dinner begin at 6 p.m., followed by the performances, trivia and dancing at 7:30 p.m.

If unable to attend, consider purchasing tickets for a couple you know or an employee who needs a night of fun and diversion, the theatre group suggests. It added, “The pandemic has prevented many opportunities to gather together and celebrate. This is MRP’s way of giving back to our community by creating a splendid night of revelry and enjoyment. So grab a costume or your best dancing shoes and get ready to boogie with the Mouse River Players.”
