In what media do you work?

I mainly work with digital media. I enjoy taking photos as well as recording and editing video.

How would you describe your style?

I have had my camera for a little less than a year and I honestly believe that I am still discovering my style. I love capturing moments that you can’t recreate. It gives the image a special impression and a lasting memory feel. I like colorful scenes – something that catches your eye when you glance at it.

Who would you say have been influences on your work?

My mom. She has always been taking pictures of my siblings and I since we were little. When my passion for running grew (I run Track and Cross Country) she was always at my races ready to document it. After all these years it is always fun to look back at the memories that she has captured.

Are there particular themes you like to explore in your work?

I enjoy doing sporting events. This past spring, I took photos for the Minot State Track and Field team. It was a fun challenge for myself because you only have a few moments to capture an athlete competing in their event. It can be extremely sunny or a dull overcast as well, which helped accelerate my understanding of my cameras settings.

What do you most enjoy about the creative process?

When I’m taking a photo of someone I’ll show them the image immediately because it just gets me excited. I love making people feel good and that’s one of the biggest rewards of photography.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m 21 years old and I’ll be a senior at Minot State University this fall. I’m majoring in Broadcasting with a minor in Management.
