Mark Holter chosen to exhibit his art in a solo show

North Dakota artist Mark Holter announced this week that his abstract series “Layers of Identity” was chosen for a solo art exhibition at the James Memorial Art Center in Williston, ND. Mark Holter is an up and coming artist whose abstract painting style is dynamic and utilizes color and texture. The James Memorial Art Center has selected Holter’s work for a solo show during the month of June, 2018.

Mark Holter’s first painting in the “Layers of Identity” series, “Gaudy Inferno,” was selected to be a part of the Americas 2017 All Media show at the Northwest Arts Center at Minot State University. This annual show accepts submissions from artists around the world. There were 65 artists who submitted work for the show with only 30 works selected out of 202. Inspired by the reception of his work, Holter created his “Layers of Identity” series over the following year. A few of his pieces from the series were seen by members of the James Memorial Art Center board and “Layers of Identity” was selected for a solo show. The dates for this show are June 1-29, 2018.

Mark Holter lives and creates his art in Minot, and has been focusing on his work since 2015. Regarding this show Holter stated “I am very pleased and flattered to be chosen by the James Memorial Art Center for this solo show. It is nice to be recognized locally in my home state. I lived in Williston as a child and I have many great memories of the James Memorial building when it was the library. I’m also excited to announce I will be giving those who attend the show an opportunity to see my art in a very unique way…but if you want to know more, you’ll have to attend the show.”

The James Memorial Art Center in Williston is located at 621 1st Avenue West. Their telephone number is 774-3601. You can find them online at www.thejamesmemorial.org.
