What’s Happening in Arts & Entertainment 6-12-14
The Minot State University Summer Theatre group will present: “The Musical of Musicals: The Musical,” directed by Carlen Gilseth, Friday through Wednesday; “See How They Run,” directed by Conrad Davidson, June 26-30; “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” directed by Chad Gifford, July 8-12; and “Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” directed by Kevin Neuharth, July 18-23, at the MSU Amphitheater. All performances begin at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for students and seniors, $5 for children 12 and under, and $3 for MSU Faculty, staff and summer students. The Bottineau County Fair will present a free concert with the Swon Brothers, contestants on Season 4 of “The Voice,” Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
The Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center will host a Concert at the Confluence Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The Missouri Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center is located 22 miles southwest of Williston at Fort Buford. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. The Center is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The Dalagutan Orchestra, with members from Surnadal and Sunndal, Norway, will perform at the Crosby Moose Lodge on Monday. A potluck supper will be held at 6:30 p.m., with music beginning around 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5, all are welcome. The event is sponsored by Vidda Lodge Sons of Norway and supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts. The four-member Dalagutan band plays old-style Norwegian dances with accordion and fiddle, as well as modern music with country, pop and rock with guitars, drums and keyboards. All four members sing.
The Swedish Heritage Society of Northwest North Dakota will host its Midsummer Celebration on Friday, June 20, at 5 p.m. at the Scandinavian Heritage Society, 1020 S. Broadway, with a meal, entertainment and a bonfire.
The Hot Summer Night Wine Walk and Art Splash will be held in Downtown Minot on June 27 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Walk along the streets of historic Downtown while sampling wines of the world and tasting yummy appetizers. The Art Splash Tent will feature many local artists. Tickets available downtown at Cookies For You and at the MAFB Outdoor Recreation Center. Must be 21 to attend.
Tops In Blue, the U.S. Air Force’s premier entertainment showcase, will be presented Friday, June 27, at 7 p.m. in the Minot Municipal Auditorium. It is free to the public. Composed of active-duty Air Force members, Tops In Blue is out of Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
The Great Downtown Wing Ding will be held Friday and Saturday, July 11-12. Friday night features a street dance with Frankly Scarlett. Saturday is family fun day with inflatables, kids games, food vendors and talent show on stage all day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A highlight of the day is judging of the best wing sauce contest.
