Open auditions for World War I era play in Bismarck

BISMARCK — The State Historical Society of North Dakota is looking for actors ages 16 to 25 to audition for “North Dakota Voices of the Great War.” Auditions are Sunday, Sept. 28, from 2-4 p.m. at the North Dakota Heritage Center amd State Museum in Bismarck.

This play is based on letters to and from North Dakota soldiers and nurses who served in Europe during World War I. While not a musical, it weaves in songs popular during the era. Singing experience is helpful but not required. “North Dakota Voices of the Great War” was written by University of Mary faculty Daniel Bielinski and Dr. Joseph Stuart and first performed by the university’s theater department.

Rehearsals run Monday through Thursday, Oct. 6 to Nov. 6, from 6-8 p.m. at the N. D. Heritage Center and State Museum. Dress rehearsals will take place Saturday-Monday, Nov. 8, 9 and 10, from 6-8 p.m.

Show dates are as follows:

– Tuesday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day, 2 p.m.

– Friday, Nov. 14, 7 p.m.

– Saturday, Nov. 15, 7 p.m.

– Sunday, Nov. 16, 2 p.m.
