NDDPI releases charter school application forms

BISMARCK – The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction announced it has released the application materials and timeline for the state's first round of public charter schools under ND ANCHOR, the state's new framework for approving and overseeing charter schools. The application window opens Dec. 2 and closes March 2, 2027. Decisions will be announced in mid-May. ND ANCHOR stands for Authorizing North Dakota Charters for High-Quality Outcomes and Results. National Adoption Month recognized in ND

Throughout November, Catholic Charities North Dakota is recognizing National Adoption Month and the many children, families, professionals and community partners who are part of adoption across the state. Through programs including the North Dakota Adoption Network and Strong Roots Bright Futures, Catholic Charities North Dakota supports people at different points in the adoption journey. Constitutional measures defeated

Unofficial results show North Dakota voters rejected two constitutional measures on the Nov. 3 ballot. Measure One, which would change the threshold for voter passage of constitutional measures from 50% to 60%, garnered 101,659 votes in support, or 43.52%, compared to 131,947 votes in opposition, or 56.48%. Measure Two, which would have changed the constitution to require the state fund breakfast and lunch for all students, was narrowly rejected with 116,263 votes or 49.39% in support, and 119,152 or 50.61% opposed.

Surrey bond issue comes up short

SURREY – Unofficial results show Surrey Public School District voters narrowly defeating a school bond issue on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The yes votes led 465-317, with about 59.46% support. The bond issue requires 60% for passage. The vote on the 20-year, $5.8 million bond issue is the second time around. The bond issue came just short of the required 60% for passage in June. Unofficial voting results on Tuesday, Nov. 3, showed Republicans winning Minot-area legislative seats. In District 3, incumbent Sen. Bob Paulson of Minot led Democratic-NPL challenger and Surrey mayor Mike Thiesen 2,349-1,373 in unofficial results in the Senate race. A retired Navy pilot, Paulson and his family operate a farm southeast of Minot. He served in the North Dakota House from 2019-22 and Senate since 2023.
