2026 ND State Parade to have 220 entries

When entry applications closed on Sunday, June 21, for the 2026 North Dakota State Parade, the final tally was 220 entries, according to Twyla School, parade chairman. The 44th parade, with the theme, “Honoring 250 years of Heroes,” will be held Saturday, July 18. The parade starts at 9:15 a.m. and follows Burdick Expressway East from Broadway through the N.D. State Fairgrounds. This year the N.D. State Parade Committee has selected the Western North Dakota Honor Flight as the grand marshal.

Name of victim of fatal crash released

BURLINGTON – The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the name of the victim of a fatal crash that occurred near Burlington Sunday, June 21. Larry Jones, 84, Burlington, driver of a Subaru Forester, died in the crash. Candice Wenger, 68, Tioga, driver of a Dodge Ram 1500, was seriously injured. According to the Highway Patrol, the Subaru was going east on Highway 2, one mile west of Burlington, when it crossed the median, entered the westbound lanes, continued east and struck the Dodge Ram head-on.

Suspect arrested after early morning pursuit

The Minot Police Department has reported the arrest of a Minot woman following a vehicle pursuit in the early morning on Tuesday, June 23, in south Minot. According to the Minot Police Department, officers initially responded to a report at a southwest Minot hotel regarding a declined card used by an unauthorized user. Officers identified the individual attempting to use the card as Joy E. (Emily) Smith, 27, Minot.
