Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. Over the years, I have found that people really like getting the blessed ashes on Ash Wednesday to kick off this important season. But why do we bother to get these ashes? What do they mean? Ashes are a sign of death and decay. So is something dying or decaying? Sturtz to speak at Minot Baptist Church

Evangelist Joseph Sturtz will speak this week at the Minot Baptist Church. He will speak at the 9:45 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. services on Sunday and at the 7 p.m. services Monday through Wednesday. The meeting is open to the public. Rummage sale and bake sale on March 2 at Vincent United Methodist Church

Vincent United Methodist Women of Minot will hold a rummage sale and bake sale on Saturday, March 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church. Customers are asked to use the south entrance to the church. The rummage and bake sale will also include a lunch of sandwiches and soup served from 11 a.m. until it is gone. Sweet treats and coffee will be served at 9 a.m. Big bargains will be available from 1 to 2 p.m. A bake sale will be held in conjunction with the rummage sale.
