Jillian Rose Eldridge, 28, of Keller, Texas, was given a deferred imposition of sentence for 360 days on Wednesday for accidentally firing a gunshot into the occupied apartment below her while she was cleaning her boyfriend's gun in northwest Minot on April 9.
A man in the apartment below Eldridge's apartment was playing video games on his bed when the bullet came through the the ceiling, into his dresser and bounced into his bedroom wall. The man's bed and dresser were approximately three feet apart. The man was shaken up but was not injured, according to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court.
Eldridge was upset and asked police repeatedly if everyone was all right. She told police she did not believe her boyfriend's pistol was loaded.
Court records show that Judge Richard Hagar also placed her on unsupervised probation for 360 days on Wednesday and ordered her to pay $325 in court costs.
If she successfully completes probation, the Class A misdemeanor reckless endangerment charge will be dismissed.
