Grand opening set for Three Affiliated Tribes drug treatment center
BISMARCK – A grand opening ceremony for the newly constructed Good Road Recovery Center will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at 1308 Elbowoods Lane in Bismarck.
The new $24.8 million project was fully funded by the Three Affiliated Tribes and will serve as an in-patient drug and alcohol treatment and recovery center for enrolled members.
The 20,114-square-foot treatment center sits on 11 acres and has five buildings which include a building for administration, group therapy and cafetorium along with two separate male and female resident cottages with eight beds in each. The combined buildings feature a state-of-the-art geothermal heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, an etched granite cultural mural wall, exterior barbecue dining patio, outdoor amphitheater teaching area with seating for 80, two tornado storm shelters in the main building and one in each cottage; and a back-up generator with a 48-hour capacity. Also included is a land-bank for future cultural facilities including a sweat lodge and a walk path.
Construction of the project began in December 2016. The center is designed for future expansion with an additional 11 acres for future development to include transitional housing.
