Trek Bender, 20, Minot, was taken into custody by Minot Police following an incident early Wednesday morning.
Police respond-ed to an alarm at Key Care Pharmacy located in the Trinity-Medical Arts building at 400 East Burdick Expressway at 12:55 a.m. Upon arrival police discovered a Trinity security guard fighting with a male suspect inside the building. Before police could make entry the suspect fled elsewhere inside the building.
Police set up a perimeter and shortly thereafter the suspect exiting the building and refused an order to stop. He fled on foot for a short distance where he was apprehended.
Both Bender and the unnamed security officer were transported to Trinity Hospital for treatment of injuries. Bender was then taken to the Ward County Jail. He was charged with burglary, robbery, possession of stolen property, wearing a mask during the commission of a criminal offense, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and refusal to halt.
Bender made an initial court appearance on the charges Wednesday afternoon. The count of robbery was dismissed. A preliminary hearing for Bender is set for August 23 in front of judge Gary Lee. Bender also has two early charges pending in District Court for theft of property and driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license.
Lee set bond Monday at $20,000 cash or corporate surety.
