Facility fire causes release of brine, oil at site near Alexander
ALEXANDER – A release of 12,600 gallons of brine and 2,100 gallons of oil occurred at the Nygaard 1-29 saltwater disposal site, about three and a half miles south of Alexander, due to a facility fire, according to the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division.
Murex Petroleum Corporation reported the incident Tuesday. All product released was contained within the diking on site and cleanup is under way.
A state inspector has been to the location and will monitor additional cleanup.
