Three injured in 2-vehicle crash near Keene
KEENE – Three people were injured in a crash near Keene when a Kenworth tractor-trailer slid through an intersection and struck another vehicle.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol said Ryley Mitchell, 26, Keene, driver of a 2013 Ford F-350 pickup, and passengers Bradley Schumann, 52, Lafayette, La., and Brianna Mitchell, 26, Keene, were injured in the accident. One-month-old Rebecca Mitchell, who was in a car seat, was not injured. Michael Amundson, 49, of Clifford, the Kenworth driver, also was not injured.
Amundson, going east on County Road 12, approached the stop sign at the intersection too quickly, applied the brakes but was unable to stop, slid through the intersection and struck the driver’s side of the pickup. Mitchell was going north on N.D. Highway 23 when the accident happened Thursday. All four occupants of the pickup were taken to McKenzie County Hospital in Watford City. Ryley Mitchell was airlifted later to a University of Minnesota hospital.
