1 min read

A 29-year-old Minot woman is accused of striking and shoving a Kenmare police officer who tried to arrest her on outstanding warrants on Monday.

Carissa Sue Marcy is charged with simple assault on a police officer, a Class C felony carrying a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. She is also charged with a Class A misdemeanor for allegedly lying to the officer by giving a false name and of refusing to halt when the officer tried to arrest her, also a Class A misdemeanor.

Marcy made an initial appearance in district court in Minot on the new charges on Tuesday afternoon. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 8 before Judge Richard Hagar.

Bench warrants had been issued for Marcy's arrest on other pending charges, including a charge that she stole more than $15,000 from her mother last May. She was also wanted on other felony charges.
