Amtrak riders arrested in Minot on drug charges

Three people were placed under arrest by Minot police Thursday on drug charges.

They included 27-year-old Joseph Mayer of Indiana, 26-year-old Patrick Sullivan of Indiana and 30-year-old Erin Minnick of Vancouver.

At 10:06 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to the Amtrak station at 400 1st Avenue SW for three intoxicated individuals who employees wanted removed from the train. One individual’s bag was partially open, exposing marijuana inside that an officer noticed.

Upon further investigation, officers uncovered 5 pounds of marijuana packed inside multiple bags. The two men, Mayer and Sullivan, were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. The woman, Minnick, was placed under arrest for misdemeanor drug charges.

Minnick told police she was not associated with the men and that they had just met on the train. She was released at the scene with a Municipal Court date set.

Mayer and Sullivan were taken to Ward County Jail.
