A scam was reported to North Dakota SMP where the caller identifies as being a Medicare advocate. On caller ID, the number shows as being a local call. The caller tells the beneficiary that their benefits may be, or already have been terminated because of illegal activity on their Medicare account. The caller asks the beneficiary to verify their Medicare number to further investigate the alleged activity. This is a scam.
