Minot State’s Elsa Duquesne named Defensive Player of the Week

Elsa Duquesne's first collegiate goal last week earned her special honors from the NSIC this week.
The Beaver junior from Raimbeaucourt, France, scored the lone goal in Minot State's 1-0, non-conference win over Jamestown on Friday night at First Western Bank Field at Herb Parker Stadium.
That game-winning goal led to the NSIC naming Duquesne the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week in women's soccer on Tuesday.
The goal, a 40-yard free kick with 19 minutes, 32 seconds gone in the second half, gave Minot State (1-2-0 overall) a 1-0 lead that the Beavers held on to the rest of the game, thanks in part to Duquesne. The junior defender helped anchor Minot State's defense, which allowed just 2 shots on goal in the shutout win.
The goal was the Beaver defender's first in her 42-game, two-plus year collegiate career.
The game was Minot State's final tune-up before the start of the NSIC schedule as Duquesne and the rest of the Beavers hit the road this weekend to open league play at No. 5-ranked Minnesota State on Friday, and at St. Cloud State on Sunday.
