The Minot United girls gymnastics team was all set to compete in its second meet in as many days in Mandan, but Mother Nature had other ideas. Minot United arrived at Starion Sports Complex on Friday, Jan. 16, expecting a fresh batch of competition coming off their second-place finish the day prior. Men’s Wrestling: Beavers overwhelmed in pair of dual losses

It was a rough weekend on the mat for the men’s wrestling team, as it won just one of its 20 matches in its duals with Parkside and Minnesota State. The Beavers were shutout by Parkside, 56-0, on Saturday, Jan. 17, and fell 43-3 to Minnesota State on Sunday, Jan. 18. Shafer Ehmke delivered Minot State’s lone victory, scoring a 7-5 decision over Minnesota State’s Grant Cook at 197 pounds. Parkside won seven of its matches via pin. Women’s Wrestling: Beavers fall in close dual with Jamestown

The Minot State women’s wrestling team led early, but the University of Jamestown rallied by winning the final three matches, knocking off the Beavers, 23-18, on Sunday, Jan. 18, in Jamestown. The Beavers (5-6) won four matches – two coming by way of forfeits. Minot State took an early 10-0 lead after a pair of forfeits at 103 and 110 pounds. The Minot State men’s basketball team wasn’t able to climb out of sizable halftime deficits in either of its weekend contests, dropping a 72-60 decision to Southwest Minnesota State on Friday, Jan. 16, and its fourth straight conference game against Sioux Falls, 95-73, on Saturday, Jan. 17. The Beavers outscored the Mustangs by 11 in the second half, but found themselves trailing by 23 entering halftime.
