The Minot State men’s hockey team is back on the ice Tuesday night, ready to battle in-state rival the University of Mary. The No. 1 Beavers (20-1-1-1 overall, 10-1-1-1 MCH) host the 11th-ranked Marauders (22-10-0, 6-5-0) at the Maysa Arena on Tuesday at 7 p.m., the first of a home-and-home series between the teams, who play again in Bismarck on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The two teams have met three times already this season, with the home team prevailing each time. The Minot Minotauros entered the weekend with a chance to jump Watertown in the standings and take over the fourth and final playoff spot out of the Central Division. Instead, the Tauros fell further behind, swept at the hands of the Shamrocks over the weekend. Minot dropped a 3-0 decision on Friday, Jan. 30, before Watertown completed the sweep with a 4-2 win on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Prairie Lakes Ice Arena. Minot United’s Brooklyn Ost went 4-0 with three pins in her first three matches to capture the 100-pound title and Madisyn Racine won all five of her matches for the crown in the 124-pound division in the Belle of the Brawl tournament in Casselton on Saturday, Jan. 31. Overall, Minot United placed seven wrestlers in the top six en route to a third-place finish as a team with 179 points. The Minot State men’s hockey team produced one of its highest scoring outputs of the season while goaltender Blake Sittler made 17 saves for his first collegiate shutout in a 7-0 victory over Midland University on Sunday, Feb. 1, at Maysa Arena. The Minot State women’s basketball team rallied to get to within four-points of the lead in the third quarter, but faded down the stretch in a 74-64 loss to Winona State on Saturday, Jan. 31, at McCown Gymnasium. The Minot United boys wrestling team doubled its win total in WDA duals in a matter of hours with a pair of convincing victories over Jamestown and Turtle Mountain on Saturday, Jan. 31. Minot United started the day with a 71-5 victory over the Blue Jays and ended it with a 48-25 win against the Braves.
