NDSU chooses Patterson as starting QB

North Dakota State head football coach Matt Entz has announced that Quincy Patterson will be the Bison’s starting quarterback for next Saturday’s season opener against Albany on Sept. 4.

Patterson is a 6-foot-3, 246-pound junior from Chicago, Ill. with three years of eligibility remaining. He transferred from Virginia Tech in time for the spring 2021 season but was ineligible to play for NDSU after appearing in three games during the fall 2020 season for the Hokies.

Patterson played in 13 games over three seasons for Virginia Tech from 2018 to 2020, including one start as a redshirt freshman in 2019 at Notre Dame, where he completed nine passes for a career-best 139 yards.
