The Minot State Beavers are set to return home for their next game, as they look for their second win of the season against the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons on Saturday, October 3.

The Beavers offense had their weakest game of the season last weekend when they went out of state for their game against the Bemidji State University Beavers, dropping the game 19-37.

Last Saturday was the first time that the Beavers earned less rushing yards than their opponents, but the Beavers defense was able to hold Bemidji State in the air.

The defense kept Bemidji State to just 13 yards in the air, with Minot State dominating the air, completing 47 passing yards.

With their loss to Bemidji State, the Beavers fell to a record of 1-4 on the season, but Minot State is looking come back this coming weekend for their second win.

“We have a resilient group with some pride and I have no doubt we will bounce back and play more to our capabilities moving forward,” said football head coach Ian Shields.

The Beavers have had a tough history against the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons.

The Beavers and the Dragons have played 13 times since 2012, and the Beavers have not beat out Minnesota State University Moorhead since their 2012 game.

Last season, the Dragons beat the Beavers in overtime during the 2025 season 37-40.

This season, despite the Beavers’ worse record, their statistics so far this season put Minot State ahead of the Dragons.

The Dragons have an average of 32.2 points per game as opposed to the Beavers’ 33.8 points.

The Beavers have also driven the ball much further than the Dragons this season on the ground, though they trail in the air.

The Beavers have totaled 2088 offensive yards this season as compared to the Dragons’ 1991. The Beavers carried the ball a total of 1754 yards over the ground and passed the ball a total of 435 yards.

While the Dragons trail behind the Beavers over the ground with their total of 901 rushing yards, they out pass the Beavers with 1090 yards in the air.

The Beavers’ and Dragons’ offense will have the chance to put their skills this weekend as they face off at Herb Parker Stadium beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 3.
