Rostad leads Beaver men after first round of Battle in the North

The Minot State men’s and women’s golf teams hosted the first round of the Battle in the North at the Beowulf Golf Club on Monday, October 5.
Minot State’s Kasen Rostad is looking to clinch the tournament medalist spot heading into the second round after finishing second individually on Monday with his score of par at 71.
Rostad finished the front nine one over par-36 with a triple bogey on the first home. He reeled in his game in the back nine with one under par, putting him at an even 71 strokes to finish the day.
Rostad finished the round one stroke behind the men’s individual leader, Quinn Breidenbach from the University of Mary.
The University of Mary’s A team led the tournament overall after the first round with their overall score of 295.
Minot State’s A team finished the first round in third with their overall score of 300.
Minot State’s Emily Watts led the Beavers’ women’s team to their third place finish after the first round of the tournament on Monday.
Watts finished the round with in third place individually with a score of eight over par. Watts was two stroked behind the individual leader, Kacie Rexin from the University of Jamestown.
Watts helped lead the Beavers to a third place overall finish with their score of 341.
Both teams will tee off for the second round of the tournament at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6.
