Minot falls to Mandan in WDA Championship

The boy's tennis 2026 post season officially kicked off with the West Region Team Dual Tournament on Thursday, October 1.
The Minot High Magicians came into the tournament as the WDA's second seed behind the Mandan Braves.
All eight qualifying teams got their start bright and early at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning, and the Magi were able to quickly dispatch their round one opponents, the Williston Coyotes.
The Minot North Sentinels began the tournament seeded fourth, and took on the fifth-seeded Legacy High Sabers for round one.
The Sentinels won out over the Savers 4-1, sending both themselves and the Magi into the tournament semifinals.
The Magi quickly followed up their first round shut out with another 5-0 shut out in the semifinals, this time knocking the Century Patriots out of WDA title contention.
The Sentinels fell to their semifinals opponent, the Mandan Braves 4-1.
The Sentinels' loss sent them to the State Qualifiers, where they took on the Bismarck High Demons.
The Sentinels took the match victory in a close 3-2 win, punching their ticket to the State Tournament.
After the conclusion of the State Qualifier, the Magi and the Braves took to the court to close out the first day of WDA competition.
In a narrow 3-2 win, the Braves clinched the WDA Team Duals title over the Magi.
Though they lost in the WDA Tournament, both the Sentinels and Magi will have the chance to fight for the state title when the 2026 NDHSAA Boys State Team Tennis Tournament begins on Thursday, October 8.
The WDA Tournament will run through Saturday, October 3, with the Singles Tournament and the Doubles Tournament.
