The Minot High boys soccer team closed out the 2026 NDHSAA Boys Soccer State Tournament over this past weekend, finishing in fourth place after their loss to the Mandan-St. Mary’s Braves in the third place match on Saturday, October 17.

The third place match was a defensive brawl, ending regulation time with no goals. To decide the result of the game, both teams went to penalty kicks, ending with the Braves scoring four while the Magicians scored just three.

The Braves’ win over the Magicians secured their third place finish in the state tournament, while the Magicians fell to fourth place.

The Magicians’ loss in the third place match was only their second of the season, the first being in the tournament semifinals against the eventual State Champion West Fargo Sheyenne Mustangs.

The end of the State Tournament also brought about the announcement of the All-Tournament Team.

Among the 17 players voted to the team, the magicians had two players make the cut, junior Nolan Schmidt and senior Dylan Oswalt.

The two players were not the only Magicians to earn an award. Minot High’s coach, Jordan Foley was voted as the 2026 NDHSCA Boys Soccer Coach of the Year.

With the magicians’ loss on Saturday, the team ends the season with a record of 15-2-2.
