Magi beat Patriots to kick off final week

The Minot High Magicians boys soccer team has torn through the regular season this year, and Tuesday night's away game against the Century Patriots on October 6 was no different.
The Magi dominated the pitch at the Bismarck Community Bowl as they have been all year, clearing the Patriots in a clean 5-1 victory to bring their record to 13-0-2 on the season.
The Magicians are the only unbeaten team in the Western Dakota Association and have been for a while.
In late September, the Magicians had already punched their ticket to the State Tournament in Fargo next weekend, October 15-17, and just a few days ago, the Magi secured their spot as the WDA Champions, a full week before the regular season was set to end.
With their victory on Tuesday night, the Magi have just one game left in the regular season to complete their 16 game undefeated run.
Looking at their stats this season just before the final match, the Magi have a significant advantage on both sides of the ball heading into the post season.
Of the top ten scorers in the WDA, the Magi have four players among them, with senior David Rodriguez leading Minot High as second overall with 12 goals.
Minot junior Grayson Steele leads the WDA in assists with 11 on the season and sophomore goalkeeper Honor Ambury leads the WDA in shutouts with five.
The Century Patriots were the second highest ranked team in the WDA heading into Tuesday's match and were just one of two teams to snag a tie from the Magicians, and with them defeated on Tuesday night, Minot High will be returning home for their final game of the season.
The Magicians will play on Saturday, October 10, with a 3 p.m. kick off as they face the WDA third-ranked Mandan-St. Mary's Braves.
