The Minot State volleyball team was swept by the Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs at home on Friday night, October 2, in their first of two games for Alumni Weekend.

The Beavers and the Mustangs stayed neck and neck through the majority of the first set.

It wasn’t until the two teams tied 17-17 that the Mustangs began to storm ahead, eventually winning the first set of the match 25-21.

The second set of the night took a similar path as the first.

Both teams stayed close together through the whole set, trading the lead back and forth up through their tied score of 20-20. The Mustangs drew ahead once more and finished the set out with another 25-21 win.

The third and last set of the match was the only one where the Beavers did not take the lead. The Mustangs were out ahead of the Beavers clear through to the final 25-18 score, securing the 3-0 sweep.

With their loss on Friday night, the Beavers fell to a season record of 3-13 and a record of 0-8 in NSIC play.

The Beavers will return to the court on Saturday, October 3, to take on the University of Sioux Falls beginning at noon to close out Alumni Weekend.
