Top twelve set for Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo

The top twelve competitors in each event in the PRCA's Badlands Circuit have qualified to compete at the Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo in Minot Oct. 9-11.
The lone North Dakotan among them is bareback rider Will DeMontigny, Dunseith.
The 19-year-old, in his permit membership year of pro rodeo competition with the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), also competes collegiately at Bismarck State University. At Bismarck State, he competes in four events: the bareback riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling and team roping.
Of the four, bareback riding is his strength. "I'm definitely a stronger bareback rider."
DeMontigny is working towards a degree in finance with an associate degree in marketing and a certificate in Spanish. He is in his second year of college.
In high school rodeo, he qualified for the National High School Finals Rodeo three years. He is a 2025 graduate of Bottineau High School.
DeMontigny broke his wrist at a rodeo in New Town, North Dakota in June and was out of competition for a month.
He is the son of Brett and Joni DeMontigny.

The Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo is the culmination of the rodeo regular season.
The top twelve cowboys and cowgirls in each of eight events who have won the most money over the regular season qualify to compete at the circuit finals rodeo.
The Badlands Circuit is the PRCA's designation of contestants living in North Dakota and South Dakota. Contestants from other states may opt in.
The Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo takes place Oct. 9-11 at the N.D. State Fair Center in Minot, N.D. Shows start at 7 pm on Oct. 9-10 and at 1 pm on Oct. 11.
