The Minot North Sentinels and the Minot High Majettes volleyball teams were set to meet for the first time this season on Thursday night, September 10, at Minot North High School, but a change of venue saw the match switched to Minot High School.

But a loss of home court advantage was not enough to keep the Sentinels from rallying for a 3-1 win over the Majettes on Thursday night, pushing them back to a winning conference record after last week’s loss to the Bismarck Demons.

Both teams struggled to get the ball running through the first set of the match, but the Sentinels were able to take it with a 25-20 win.

The Majettes had a much stronger start through the second set, leading the Sentinels cleanly through their first 15 points, but the Sentinels quickly found their stride, taking the lead definitively at 18-17. They were able to close the second set out with another 25-20 win.

The Sentinels were able to carry their momentum through to the third set, quickly taking the lead in single digits, eventually leading 22-15 over the Majettes.

But Minot High wasn’t yet beaten.

The Majettes fought their way up to a tie at 22-22 after scoring seven unanswered points.

The teams stayed neck and neck, pushing back match point until the Majettes finally snagged the set at a 30-28 win over the Sentinels.

By the time the fourth set began, the Sentinels had fully settled in.

They quickly took back the Majettes’ early lead and dominated through the rest of the set. The Sentinels made quick work of the fourth set, closing it out at 25-13 and winning the match 3-1 over Minot High.

The Sentinels closed out their fifth conference game of the season and improved their conference record to a winning 3-2.

The Majettes fell to a conference record of 1-3.

The Sentinels will return back to Minot North High School for their next game, as they take on the Mandan Braves on Thursday, September 17.

The Majettes will head back on the road for their next match, as they take on the Bismarck High Demons on Tuesday, September 15.
