Sentinels fall in close home game versus Saints
Trending
The Minot North Sentinels earned their first loss of the season 20-22 in their first conference game of the season on Friday night, September 25.
The Sentinels had a stellar run up to this point in the season, taking four straight wins through the first four weeks of the season. However, the St. Mary’s Saints broke that streak on Friday in one of the Sentinels’ closest games this season.
Extra points were the deciding factor in Friday night’s game. With both teams scoring three touchdowns through the game, St. Mary’s was able to convert on two different two point conversions, giving them the slight edge over the Sentinels, who only succeeded in two of their three extra point attempts.
Despite their loss, the Sentinels still had a strong performance on the field.
Senior running back Cooper Chick ran the ball nine yards for the Sentinels’ first touchdown of the game. Junior running back Cian Hannon was the second to score for the Sentinels, taking the ball for a 90 yard punt return in the second quarter.
Sophomore quarterback Henry Woodbeck closed out the game with his 22 yard pass to senior wide receiver Cameron Jesz giving the Sentinels their third touchdown of the night in the fourth quarter.
Though the team suffered their first loss of the season, the Sentinels are still fighting for their second Dakota Bowl appearance in a row as they move to take on Watford City at home on Friday, October 2.
