Minot’s Blake Anderson joins MSU men’s track and field

The Minot State men’s track and field team revealed on Wednesday, September 2, that they would add four freshmen to their roster heading into the new season, including Minot High graduate Blake Anderson.

Minot State’s head track and field coach Erik Stevens made the announcement that pole vaulter Jaden van der Linde from Cochrane, Alberta, sprinter and hurdler Rylan Hollingshead from Tioga and state champion thrower Jack Mattson from Hillsboro were the newest members of the men’s team.

Along with the other three, Minot’s own Blake Anderson was also added to the team’s roster this year.

Last year, Anderson took home the North Dakota Class A state titles in the shot put and discus with throws of 58 feet 3 inches and a mark of 185-7 respectively.

Along with the state titles, Anderson also won the WDA titles in shot put and discus. He also won the WDA discus title in 2025 as a junior and was state runner up the same year.

“When you can add a local state champion in both shot put and discus to the program, it is a great day!” Coach Stevens said in a release. “Blake is an explosive power through the ring, and I can’t wait to see how he develops with our new throws coach, Hannah Redlin.”

Along with joining the men’s track and field team, Anderson is a member of the Minot State football team. He plays with the beavers as a b-back and slot back.

The Minot State men’s track and field team will have their first meet at the Mike Thorson Open in Bismarck on Saturday, December 6.
