Minot State golf opens new season at Fall Brawl

Minot State’s men’s and women’s golf teams kicked off their long season on Monday, September 14 with the first day of play at the Fall Brawl at Troy Burne Golf Club hosted by Minnesota State University and Concordia St. Paul.
The Beavers men’s golf team finished the first round of play tied for seventh place overall with St. Cloud State at at 25-over 309.
They were led on Monday by junior golfer Max Palmer, who secured a finish of one over a par of 72, landing him tied for second place individually and just two strokes shy of the first place contender.
Sophomore Kasen Rostad was next up for the Beavers, tied for 18th place individually with his round one score of five over par.
Freshman Emily Watts led the Beavers women’s team to their round one tenth place finish. Watts finished the round with an individual score of six over par, tying for third place and finishing just a single stroke off of the first place golfer.
The women’s team finished the round with an overall score of 70-over the 354 par.
Both teams will close out their season opening tounrmanets with the Fall Brawl’s second round, set to begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, at Hudson, WI.
