Beavers look to double season’s wins versus Bemidji State

Fresh off the heels of their first win of the season last weekend against the Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs, the Minot State Beavers are heading back on the road for their next game, as they look to take on Bemidji State University in the “Battle of the Beavers” for their second win.
The Beavers have had a rough history against Bemidji State.
Since 2004, the Minot State Beavers and the Bemidji State Beavers have met on the gridiron 20 times, facing off nearly once a year for the last 22 years.
From 2004 to 2024, Bemidji State has haven home the win, beating Minot State with a record of 20-0.
Last season, under the guidance of head coach Ian Shields, the Beavers took their first win against Bemidji State 28-21.
Last season’s win over Bemidji State was the Beavers’ first win this season. Coming off of as dominant of a win as the Beavers had last week, they will look to carry that momentum to a second win this season.
While Minot State has had a better start this season as compared to last, Bemidji State has also improved upon their previous year.
Bemidji State is 1-3 heading into their game against the Beavers. And although last season they were still only 0-4 at this same point, Bemidji State’s offense has greatly improved.
Last season, Bemidji State scored a total of 71 points across their first four games. This season, they have scored a total of 114 points across the same number of games.
Their defense has made great strides this season too.
Last season, the Bemidji defense allowed 156 points in their first four games. This season, they only allowed 95, including one shut out game against Southwest Minnesota State.
The Minot State Beavers will have a tough fight ahead of them as they travel to Bemidji, MN to try and spoil Bemidji State’s Homecoming weekend as kickoff begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 26.
