Beaver golfers make top five in season opener

The Minot State men’s and women’s golf teams closed out their first tournament of the 2025-2026 season on Tuesday, September 15, at the Minnesota State University/Concordia-St. Paul Fall Brawl at the Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, WI.
The Beavers men’s golf team finished their season opener in seventh place, earning an overall score of 47-over a par of 615. Junior Max Palmer led the way for the Beavers men’s team, finishing the tournament with a score of one over par 143, ending tied for second place. Palmer finished the tournament two strokes behind the first place finisher, Concordia-St. Paul’s Brennan Weckwerth.
Palmer finished tied with Bemidji State’s Myles Jorde for second place.
Minot State freshman Emily Watts led the Beavers’ women’s team to the end of their first tournament, tying for fourth place individually with a score of 10-over a par of 152 over the course of two days, along with Wisconsin-Stout’s Ashleigh Johnson.
This week’s tournament was Watts’ collegiate debut. She carded a 6-over 77 on Monday and a 4-over 75 on Tuesday to close out the tournament.
The Beavers women’s golf team finished the tournament in 11th place, earning an overall score of 696.
Both Beaver teams will have just a short break before they head back on the road for their next tournament.
The Beavers will hit the tee box next on Monday, September 21, at The Jewel Golf Club for the The Jewel Invitational in Lake City, MN.
