The Velva-Drake-Anamoose-Garrison Aggies football team is still undefeated five weeks into the 2025 season, taking down the Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers 32-6 at home for their fifth straight win on Friday night, September 18.

The Aggies defense has had an electric season up to this point, allowing just 31 points to be scored against them through their five games. The Aggies offense has been just as strong, crossing 150 season points on Friday night as they took down the Lakers.

The Aggies’ aggression on the field was on full display Friday night, with the Velva D-A-G punching the first points on the board.

The Aggies’ freshman quarterback Payton Weidler secured a 35 yard pass to senior wide receiver Brady Hauff in the first quarter of play to score the team’s first touchdown of the night.

Senior running back Logan Vincent punched next for the Aggies, securing the team’s second unanswered touchdown midway through the second quarter on a 42 yard touchdown run.

The Lakers scored their first an only touchdown of the game just two minutes before halftime, with a 14-yard pass from senior quarterback Zane Bjerklie landing securely in the arms of senior tight end William Marquart for a touchdown.

With the Lakers’ touchdown, they prevented a shutout and brought the score to 12-6 at halftime.

The Aggies secured three more unanswered touchdowns over the course of the second, with one coming in the third quarter and two in the fourth, the Aggies ended the game with a decisive 32-6 victory.

The Aggies will look to extend their win streak to six as they head on the road for their next match to take on Ray/Powers Lake next Friday, September 25.

The Lakers will look for redemption as they head back home for their next game, taking on the Bishop Ryan-Our Redeemer’s Lions on the same day.
