Tots split series to begin final week of regular season

The final week of the Northwoods League’s baseball regular season has begun and the Hot Tots are heading into their final week with a weekend split series against the Willmar Stingers.
The Hot Tots and the Stingers first faced off at Corbett Field on Saturday, August 1. Though the Hot Tots were first not he board, scoring a single run in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI triple by Joe Dusell, the Stingers quickly took back the momentum in the top of the fourth, taking the lead at 2-1.
The Hot Toys led again in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Stingers scored an additional three run in the top of the sixth and continued to build their lead until they were up 11-3 over the Hot Top at the end of the ninth inning.
The Hot Tots’ second game of the weekend on Sunday, August 2, started much the same way as the first.
The Hot Tots were first on the board, this time in the bottom of the first inning scoring three runs on a pair of RBIs by Aiden Yochim and Adrian Dominguez.
The Stingers took the lead soon after, earning two runs each in the second and third innings before the Hot Tots scored a pair of their own in the bottom of the third.
The Hot Tots scored another three runs in the bottom of the sixth and an additional five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Stingers were only able tot secure three additional runs before the end of the ninth inning, giving the Hot Tots the win at 13-7 by the end of the game.
The Hot Tots head back on the road for their next game, taking on the Bismarck Larks for the final time this season in a four game series beginning on August 3.
The Hot Tots will host their last home game of the season on Tuesday, August 4, against the Larks.
