The Minot North Sentinels are off to a strong start after their season opening games over the past weekend.
The Sentinels took out the Bismarck Demons 4-3 on Friday, August 14, and defeated Grand Forks Central 5-1 in a non conference match.
On Friday, the Demons were firs to strike early in the first half. They secured a quick goal in just the second minute of the match, putting the ball past Minot North’s goal keeper, Griffin Wald.
The Sentinels were able to strike back just before the end of the first half in the 40th minute when Anthony Winter Jr. Anthony Winter Jr. secured a goal for Minot North with an assist from Macklin Kelly.
The game was tied at 1-1 heading into half time.
The Demons game themselves the lead once more early into the second half, scoring two back to back goals in the 48th and 49th minutes.
Just 13 minutes later, Gavin Wald brought the scoring deficit down to one with his goal in the 62nd minute, in part thanks to the assist by Logan Orvitt.
Then, in the last ten minutes of play, Minot North secured another pair of goals in the 71st and 76th minutes, putting them over the Bismarck Demons before the game was called.
The goals were scored by Chester Tomson and Jayden Marshall, with assist by Jayden Marshall and Logan Orvitt respectively.
Griffin Wald faced 10 shots on goal and saved seven shots for Minot North during his time as goal keeper.
The Sentinels ended the game with their first win of the series at 4-3.
The Sentinels worked their way to a 2-0 start for the 2026 season on Saturday, August 15 when they took out Grand Frks Central in a decisive 5-1 win.
Minot North’s Jayden Marshall scored the first goal of the game in the 16th minute of play with an assist from McClain Roberts.
Grand Forks Central secured their one and only goal of the game in the 21st minute of play.
The Sentinels got one more goal after Grand Forks scored an owl goal, closing out the first half with the Sentinels up 2-1.
Minot North secured three more goals in the second half to give themselves the win at 5-1.
The Sentinels will stay on the road for their next game, taking on Legacy High School on Tuesday, August 18.
The Minot High Magicians tied their first game of the 2026 season in their home game against the Jamestown Blue Jays.
Minot High’s Matthew Wistisen scored the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute with an assist from Grayston Steele.
The Blue Jays scored a goal of their own just two minutes later, tying the game at 1-1.
Both teams fought through the rest of the game, but neither side was able to score another goal.
The Magicians will stay at home for their next game, taking on Dickinson on Tuesday, August 18.
