Magicians soccer to open season at home, Sentinels on the road

The 2026 varsity boys soccer season is set to begin this Friday, August 14.

The Minot High Magicians are entering this season as last year’s WDA Runner Up, closing out the season with ten wins. The team finished their 16th consecutive season of post season appearances last year, and are looking to make it seventeen this year.

The Magi have several players making their return to Duane Carlson Stadium this Friday, including now senior midfielder Dylan Oswalt. Oswalt led the Magi last season in goals and assists, topping out at eight each on the season.

The Magi will face off against the Jamestown Blue Jays for their first game of the season. The two teams last met in the State Tournament Consolation Semis, where the Magi won 2-1 to advance to that state fifth place match.

Their game will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Duane Carlson Stadium.

The Minot North Sentinels will also start their 2026 season this Friday, but unlike the Magi, they will play on the road in Bismarck.

The Sentinels will be starting their third varsity season this yea. They had remarkable growth after their first season, ending 2024 will a final record of three wins 13 losses and finishing 2025 with a 7-8-1 record.

Now junior Jayden Marshall is making his return to the pitch this year. Marshall led the Sentinels in goals with nine last year. He and the rest of the Sentinels will take the field at the Bismarck Community Bowl against the Bismarck Demons beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
