High school football begins across North Dakota

High school football opened up in North Dakota for many Class A and nine man teams this past Friday, August 21.
Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood 58, Nedrose 6
The Nedrose High Cardinals fell in their opening game at home against the Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood Mavericks 58-6. The Mavericks will play their first home of the season on Friday, August 28, against Dunseith High School. The Cardinals will play the TGU Titans in their first away game of the season on Thursday night, August 27.
South Prairie-Max 18, Tioga 24
The Royals and the Pirates faced off at Tioga High School this past Friday, with the Pirates walking away with their first win of the season. The Royals will make their return to South Prairie High School for their home opener, where they will take on the Central McLean Cougars on Friday, August 28.
Turtle Mountain 6, Des Lacs-Burlington 38
The Lakers won out over the Braves Friday night in Des Lac-Burlington's home opener, paving the way for another potential state run this season. The Lakers will head on the road for their first away game of the season this coming Friday against the Rugby High School Panthers. The Braves will play their first home game of the season this Friday as they take on Ray/Powers Lake.
Westhope/Newburg/Glenburn 42, Kenmare/Bowbells 16
The Sioux took down the Honkers for their season opener, with the honkers dropping the game for their home opener at Kenmare High School. The Sioux will play their first home game against Divide County at Glenburn High School on Friday, August 28. The Honkers will play their first road game of the season against Alexander High School that same day.
Divide County 41, Surrey 12
The Mustangs fell in their first game of the season 41-12 at Surrey High School. The Mustangs will face off against Lewis & Clark on the road on Thursday, August 27.
Velva-Drake-Anamoose-Garrison 44, Valley City 6
The Aggies are well on their way to another state tournament berth after taking home their first win of the season in their season opener against Valley City High School. The Aggies will make their way back to Velva High School for their home opener on Friday, August 28, against Harvey/Wells County.
Rugby 26, Stanley 6
The Rugby Panthers walked away with the win Friday night against Stanley High School during the Blue Jays’ home opener. The Panthers will have their home opener this Friday, August 28, as they take on the Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers. The Blue Jays will hold their next game at Shiloh Christian High School, facing off against Ellendale/Edgeley/Kulm for a Saturday on August, 29.
