Tots trounce Mud Puppies in 6-3 comeback

The Minot Hot Tots hosted the Great Plains East’s Minnesota Mud Puppies in pair of out of division bouts at Corbett Field beginning on Monday, July 20.

The Hot Tots entered their game on Monday 6-10 in the Great Plain West division for the second half of this year’s season. Of their last ten games prior to Monday, the Hot Tots were just 3-7.

The Mud Puppies were the first n the score board Monday afternoon, earning a home run in the top of the first inning on their second batter of the game.

The Hot Tots were quick to shut down the Mud Puppies in the rest of the half inning, and tied the game in the bottom of the first with an RBI single into left field by Alex Altmann, allowing Micah McCoy to find his way home.

The Mud Puppies pulled back ahead in the top of the third, bringing their lead to 3-1 with an RBI and a sacrifice fly.

The Hot Tots netted just one run as a response in the bottom of the fourth, but the Mud Puppies were unable to score through the rest of the game.

The Hot Tots took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Alex Altmann scored on an RBI single by Tyler Humphrey to tie the game and Jaxon Goldberg stole home to give Minot the lead at 4-3.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Hot Tots pulled even further ahead, with Altmann and Goldberg both running across home plate again, this time on an error.

The Game closed out after the top of the ninth inning, with the Minot Hot Tots up 6-3 for a home victory.

The Hot Tots and the Mud Puppies will play in their second of their two game series at Corbett Field on Tuesday, July 21.
