The Gokey Family and Northern Bottling Co./Pepsi of Minot joined the Minot Park District Monday, July 13, in cutting the ribbon on a new state-of-the art digital scoreboard installed earlier this year at Corbett Field.
The Gokeys and Northern Bottling Co./Pepsi had invested about $300,000 to provide the ball field with the updated scoreboard, which is capable of high-resolution instant replays, live fan cameras, between-pinning promotions and real-time player statistics.
The ribbon cutting came during a Minot Hot Tots game at Corbett Field. The ball park serves teams such as the Hot Tots, Minot Honeybees, Magic City Youth Baseball, Minot State University, Minot Public Schools, Bishop Ryan High School and various other tournaments and activities, according to the park district.
Will Gokey, vice president of Northern Bottling Co./Pepsi of Minot, had said in making the donation a year ago that investment in Corbett Field is not just about a scoreboard but about creating an environment that inspires youth, energizes the community and enhances the experience for fans.
